How to Participate:
We are looking forward to hosting Downtown Design Week with a mix of in person and virtual events!
Hybrid Events: Kick-off, Open House, and Closing Workshops
The Kick-off, Open House, and Closing Workshops are hybrid events! Join us in person or online. As a reminder:
The Kick-off workshop is in-person at the Cafeteria of Freeport High School (30 Holbrook St, Freeport, ME 04032) or online via zoom.
The Open House is in-person on at Town Hall (30 Main St, Freeport, ME 04032) or online via zoom.
The Closing Workshop is in-person at the Performing Arts Center at Freeport High School (30 Holbrook St, Freeport, ME 04032) or online via zoom.
Virtual-only Topic Sessions
Reminder: Topic Sessions are Virtual-only! Due to the number of interested participants in the topic sessions and logistical challenges of hybrid events and precautions to gather indoors due to Covid, we are going to pivot to virtual-only topic sessions. The public has the opportunity to participate in breakout rooms during Topic Sessions and submit feedback in the topic session worksheet.
Register for a 1:1 Appointment at Town Hall or Online
Book a 1:1 appointment online or in-person. We are encouraging participants to come to the studio by-appointment for in-person meetings with the project team. Appointment slots will be available starting today for appointments throughout the end of Design Week on Feb. 3 - Feb. 7th, 2022.
What if I can’t attend a Topic Session or Event?
All workshop and topic session materials will be made available on the website. Recordings of the Topic Sessions and Workshops will be posted to the website within 24 hours. Topic Session Worksheets can be submitted until Feb. 21, 2022.
How can I book a 1:1 appointment?
Have more to say on a topic that’s not covered in a Topic Session? Unable to participate online? Book a 1:1 appointment with the planning team in person at Town Hall or online.
What is a Design Week?
These five days will consist of a kick-off Workshop, several Focus Group meetings where we will discuss specific issues related to Downtown, an Open House to discuss draft materials, and a Closing Workshop to review the final draft of the Downtown Plan, as well as a Block Party to celebrate our work together.
How can I register for Design Week Events?
What about COVID-19?
Good question, and thank you to everyone who participated in our recent COVID-19 survey. This input has helped to shape this next stage of our work together. With Covid-19 safety and public health in mind, the Town of Freeport, FEDC, and Principle Group have adjusted our approach to allow for a mix of virtual and in-person events. Based on the community’s input, we found that most people are comfortable meeting in-person with socially distancing and masks. We also found that people are not as comfortable being in close contact or in large groups, and are open to participating in virtual events. We will be incorporating this criteria into the plans for our work together moving forward. Our team will be providing guidance in the weeks to come on these details.
